Behind The Gate With Team Honda Hrc’s Ken Roczen
... tracks with two different types of dirt. But I think that’s what makes it fun you know? You have to adjust really quick which makes it a little more difficult coming into the race. All the west coast rounds, it plays a big role when it is nighttime and the moisture that comes up and the track gets kind of hard and slick. And then some of the East Coast tracks are super soft and super rutty. Where we practice in Florida we have the luxury of making the tracks super nice and tacky so you can really push yourself and get faster and faster all of the time. Obviously, it can get hard too, but in California it’s usually really difficult especially later in the year when it gets hot the track goes too quick, because of the weather being so dry and warm. It’s really difficult in California to keep the tracks top notch. At our facility we have a football type track and a baseball type track to simulate the different kinds of stadiums, ...

... the more I ride it the more I get used to it. Roczen going big on a bike nearly as old as him © Garth Milan / Red Bull Content Pool. Sending it © Garth Milan / Red Bull Content Pool. Getting familiar with the '96 © Garth Milan / Red Bull Content Pool. Does your day on this bike give you more respect for Mc Grath and Ricky [Carmichael] and all those dudes back in the day racing these bikes. Totally. Back in the day they were hauling ass on these things! The good thing for them was they were all on 250 s and the bikes were a little more level of a playing field than if I lined up on this thing now. But yeah, my respect level for those dudes is quite high. What did videos like the Terrafirma series mean to you growing up. I remember watching all the videos and the most important thing to me was they made me want to ride. I’ve been kind of missing that with the new style videos and movies that come out, because when I see those Terrafirma and Moto XXX videos, it makes me ...

... also spent some time in Utah where it was a lot colder! And we got a new puppy, so yeah, we have been busy. Not real sure what’s up for New Years yet. Photo by Brown Dog Wilson. Honda Team Intro. DR: You looked so fast on the new CRF 450 in Vegas, are we going to see a lot more of that in 17? Have you been able to build on that. KR: I decided to race with not so much time on the bike, but I wanted to see how it was and to bond with the team so it won't be a surprise at Anaheim 1. The crash was my mistake, the bike was awesome all the time, and I only had what, a couple weeks on it at that point? This bike did not take much time to adapt to, it is that good. Since then we have been able to focus on little things to make it perfect for me. DR: The question everybody is asking everywhere and on the moto boards, do you really like the new Honda 450 as much as you seem to. KR: Oh for sure! This bike has been amazing since day one. When I got on it ...
Ken Roczen Takes The Win At A1
... by how Roczen rode the whole race. He was completely in control and he looked like he had more to give if needed. Seely also rode tenaciously and did not give up. I’m convinced his results will continue to improve as the season progresses. I’m very pleased to see us win this very important race but we should not be too content. HRC promises to give more support to the team and I hope the team keeps giving their best for the championship!”. Dan Betley stated “I’m really happy. Ken rode extremely well all day and completely dominated the main event, so it was a great way to set the tone and start the season on the right foot. I’m kind of bummed for Cole though. He was a little nervous for the evening and I think that may have gotten the best of him a little, but all in all our guys both showed speed all day and our starts were good. We learned a few things throughout the day but overall we’re in a good place and ...
Switch To Honda, Hot Start May Make Ken Roczen Man To Beat
... in San Diego, he might continue to convince more and more people that this will be his year. "Roczen is definitely a good competitor," the 27-year-old Dungey said a couple of days prior to the opener. "He's a young kid but very, very talented and gifted. "He doesn't make our job any easier.". In some ways, Roczen has to avoid beating himself. And beating yourself is easy to do in a series that runs 17 events over 18 weekends. "You can't win a championship at the first race," Roczen said. "You need to be healthy throughout the whole season. "I'm not worried ever about my capabilities and my skill - just no crashes and good starts and stay out of trouble.". While he says he never worries about his capabilities, he understands that he continues to learn more every year about how to win a title in the 450 class. He says over and over that he will treat this season, this series, this championship run with respect. "I just take the approach that in ...
