Ilya Bryzgalov Conquers Fear Of Bears At 2017 Nhl All-star Game
... Watch: Chris Pronger checks Justin Bieber's moneymaker into the boards. For almost two decades, former Flyer Chris Pronger was one of the most, if not THE most, feared players in the NHL. The towering, bruising defenseman haunted opposing players parts of 18 seasons, three of which came in Philadelphia. Though now retired, Pronger is still tormenting opponents in celebrity games. His latest victim: Justin Bieber. Pronger knocked one off most our bucket lists on Saturday afternoon during the NHL Celebrity All-Star Game when he mashed the Biebs, a former Flyer himself, mind you, into the glass for nothing more than his own personal enjoyment. Here's quick vid the St. Louis Blues, another one of Pronger's former squads, put on Twitter. — St. Louis Blues (@St Louis Blues) January 28, 2017. If that's not enough for you, check out this awesome AP photo of the Biebs' moneymaker ...

Pavel Bure Of Vancouver Canucks Makes Nhl's Top 100, Bo Horvat The All-star
... two winning teams will meet to determine which group takes home the $1 million prize. I miss John Scott already—he was the engine that fuelled the Pacific Division win last year. But the 3-on-3 format was definitely a winner, so we'll see who brings the thrills this time around. On Friday night, the NHL stirred up plenty of conversation when it named its 100 greatest players of all time—part of the celebration to commemorate the league's 100 th anniversary. I was happy to see that they didn't try to rank the players in any kind of order. It's hard enough to narrow 100 years down to only 100 guys when there are 267 male players in the Hockey Hall of Fame—and that number doesn't include current or recently-retired players. Still, nice to see one Vancouver Canucks draft pick make the list. Pavel Bure earned his two Rocket Richard trophies as a member of the Florida Panthers but he played 428 of his 702 NHL games ...
Chris Pronger
... of yourself, eating right and doing all the things that allow your brain to function as fast as it can. __link__: How does this inform what you're doing for the league. Pronger: I think it gives me a good understanding of where the players are at and what we're trying to do. I mean, hockey is a physical game. It should be a physical game, so we have to find that line [between] physical play and trying to protect the players from situations that are unavoidable. Players need to take the onus of protecting themselves and protecting their careers. When you're hitting someone, you can hit them, but you don't have to maim them, you don't have to kill them. The purpose of a bodycheck is to separate the man from the puck so you can get that puck. It's not to hit that player. While there isn't a rule that states that, there's a puck there, and you want to have it. You talk about how these two teams, Chicago and the St. ...
Pronger To Suit Up For Blues Alumni
... didn’t realize how good he was until you practiced with him every day. He made you a better player because it forced you to raise your level.”. Blues coach Ken Hitchcock, who worked with Pronger at the Olympic level, said: “He brought an attitude that forced you to play with an attitude. I haven’t seen very many players do that. Maybe Messier a little bit, but I never saw a player that could have that type of influence. He brought things to a whole other level just based on his nastiness.”. Blues defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk caught Pronger on the tail end of his career, but saw enough to “realize that if I were rushing a puck, I would just dump it in if I was going in on his side.”. Don’t tell the Blackhawks, but truth be told. Pronger won’t be as interested in the rough stuff Saturday as he will be helping the Blues score goals. He and wife Lauren will be donating $200 for each one to a Go Fund Me account for 7-year-old Luca Gruszka, who was diagnosed with leukemia earlier this month and is undergoing treatment at St. Louis Children’s ...
Iggy Left Off Nhl 100 Greatest List
... about 98 of the players on it. The two players I don’t think should be on it are Eric Lindros and Chris Pronger. Before all you Philadelphia Flyers fans fly off the handle, let me explain. I am not saying that Lindros and Pronger were not great players. They definitely were. A lot of awards and accomplishments between them. What I am saying is that there is one player who, in my opinion, should have made the list before Lindros and Pronger. That player is Jarome Iginla. Eric Lindros rubbed me, and a lot of other people wrong right from the start of his NHL career. I loved him as a Junior player winning the Gold for Team Canada in 1990 and 1991. Then in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft, he lost about 50% of my respect when he shunned the Quebec Nordiques by not putting on the jersey of the team who drafted him, and furthermore refused to play for them. I personally would give almost anything to play for even the worst team in the NHL. I would even play for the league minimum, and here is this snot-nosed, arrogant kid who thinks the world is in his pocket. Turned out alright in the end for Lindros and the Nordiques, who ...
These Old Blues Used To Thrill Fans. Saturday, They Were Thrilled To Get Back On The Ice
... sore bodies in the Blues dressing room, which during the summer is the Cardinals clubhouse. The only ice in there was keeping the beer cold. “You think you’re doing OK, you’re out and you’re skating with the guys and you feel good,” Brett Hull said. “Then you get out there and it was just. every stride was agony. It was so fun to be with them and to be out there with the rest of the guys, not only from the era you played with but the future eras when you were gone and the ones before you.”. Hull and the Blues alumni had so much fun getting together and telling stories about the old days that it may have been just as special as the game itself. “The fun part is being in the locker room, chit-chatting and having fun,” said Hull, who was joined by his father, Hall of Famer Bobby Hull. “We get older, the bodies change but the tongue gets razor sharp. You even have better lines now than when you played, so it’s a lot of fun.”. Chris ...
