SAN FRANCISCO – As memorable moments go, nothing from the Golden State Warriors’ arena groundbreaking on Tuesday trumped the synchronized backhoe dancing act. Those faux construction workers did backflips down the aisles, all part of the circus that was the Chase Center celebration party. More than 700 dignitaries, Warriors officials and media members packed a bayside tent, only to be awed by a grand finale that was equal parts pomp and circumstance. The curtain that featured an image of the arena was raised, the sun poured in, and construction equipment came to life as if this was a scene straight from Disney’s “Fantasia.” Add in the cheery choir performance at ...

... for the next few years, likely preventing them from making any major moves to improve the roster. Sixers reaping rewards of The Process. At the other end of the spectrum is the Philadelphia 76 ers, who are finally starting to reap the benefits of acquiring so many high draft picks in recent years. Joel Embiid is already a star in his first NBA season, looking like he could be the league's best center in very short order. Embiid's sensational rookie campaign means the Sixers will be able to trade either Nerlens Noel or Chicago native Jahlil Okafor for a veteran backcourt player to balance out the roster. And we still haven't seen 2016 No. 1 overall pick Ben Simmons, who's being brought back slowly from a broken foot suffered in a preseason game. Former general manager Sam Hinkie might not have been allowed to stay on to see "The Process" completed, but he deserves a lot of the credit for staying the course when other front-office execs would have bailed. The Bad Boy Warriors. Who could have imagined the Golden State Warriors being mentioned in the same breath as the Bad Boy Pistons? ... the quarter, but the Lakers closed out the half on an 8-2 run to lead 32-17 at the break. The Warriors had been held to just 24 percent from the field at the half, and had twice as many turnovers (12) as made baskets (6). Opening the third quarter on a 7-2 run, the Lakers extended the lead out to 20, 39-19, with 8:39 left to play in the third. After the Warriors added three quick points, the Lakers fired back with two straight baskets from Tucker and later, a trifecta from Dawson. That brief lead of 24 was trimmed down to 18 by two quick triples form Wayne State to close out the third quarter, still trailing 46-28. In the fourth quarter, the Warriors would get no closer than 19 points, and would yield 20 points to the Lakers compared to just nine of their own. GVSU reached a game-high lead of 29 points on a final four points to close out the game and secure the 66-37 win. Zaza is really finding his groove, as evidence by his epic taunt of Russell Westbrook. I don’t know why Pachulia did that. But his teammates love his willingness to mix it up. And it will be a trait they will need. On top of that, even though his finishing is terrible, he is good on defense and doesn’t hurt their ball movement. Dog days are here early. If Ucla's Fast-twitch Offense Resembles The Nba's Warriors, It's No Accident
... • 1 min read. UCLA has college basketball's best offense. It's been a joy to watch freshmen Lonzo Ball and TJ Leaf join veterans Bryce Alford and Isaac Hamilton in a high-flying attack that wastes no time getting shots up and can go bucket-for-bucket with anyone. The look of UCLA's offense, with few stagnant moments and largely eschewing pick-and-roll sets, reminds many of the Golden State Warriors. That's not surprising now knowing, thanks to the in-depth reporting of Sports Illustrated's Lee Jenkins , that Warriors plays are spliced into film sessions. UCLA director of player development Kory Barnett and video coordinator Kory Alford note the Bruins are "just like the Warriors," running the fewest pick-and-roll sets among college teams and that coach Steve Alford shared aspirations of opening up the offense. via SI. UCLA went 15-17 last season, finishing 73 rd in adjusted tempo, and at the end Alford trashed the entire offense. "We ran the same pick-and-rolls as everybody else," he says, "and I got so bored watching it." He wanted to install a turbocharged motion attack, modeled after the Warriors and the Spurs, and conveniently he was getting a point ...
Warriors’ Planned Move To S.f. Another Slap In The Face To Oakland
... Lacob maximizing his investment. It’s about getting money. The problem with that is, the fans’ dedication wasn’t about money. It was personal. It always will be. Business decisions don’t go over well in personal relationships. And when you chose the girl across the street, it really hurts. You have to be from here to understand why San Francisco is that. Perhaps this is an overly sensitive point of view. So what. That same sensitivity is why Oracle was rocking for Run TMC and We Believe. Why people lined up for free tickets on Chris Mullin Buzz Cut night. Why people have rocked Warriors gear as premiere fashion for the three-plus decades I have been alive. The arena will no doubt will be nice. Many from the East Bay will venture over and have a great time. Many don’t share in this particular conviction. That’s cool. But today, I’m siding with those who are hurt by having their beloved team snatched from them, only to be dangled where they can still see it. Today, while the Warriors celebrated their hard-fought achievement, I’d rather chill ...
Warriors’ Klay Thompson Expected To Play Vs. Thunder
... to play Wednesday night’s game against Oklahoma City, the Warriors have announced. Thompson, who missed shootaround to visit his ill grandfather in the Portland, Ore., area, touched down in the Bay Area at 5:40 p.m. Originally ruled out for the Oklahoma City game, he informed general manager Bob Myers late Wednesday morning that he would try to make it back in time for tip-off. Thompson, 26, is third on the team with 21.4 points per game and second with 122 three-pointers made. A master at spacing the floor, he leads the league with 10.6 points per game off catch-and-shoot opportunities. On Dec. 5, when Thompson scored a career-high 60 points in 29 minutes, he needed only 88.4 seconds of possession, 52 touches, 33 shots and 11 dribbles.
