... presence and a big-play mentality that fits in perfectly with our offensive philosophy. He is a tough-minded competitor who has the game-breaking speed and pass-catching ability that stretches the defense and creates matchup problems.". 5:20 p.m. A person with knowledge of the deals says the Los Angeles Rams have addressed their two biggest needs by agreeing to terms with offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth and receiver Robert Woods. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the free-agent contracts hadn't been announced yet. Whitworth got a three-year deal to leave the Cincinnati Bengals, and Woods got a five-year deal to return home to LA from Buffalo. Whitworth has spent his entire 11-year career in Cincinnati, making three Pro Bowls. He is likely to replace Greg Robinson as Los Angeles' starting left tackle on the NFL's worst offense last season. Woods was drafted by the Bills in ...

Ryan, Now A Teammate Of A Different Mccourty, Changes His Loyalties

... The cost for the Patriots - their first-round draft choice and 15 spots in draft position - seems reasonable for a player of Cooks' skill set, age and contractual status. ESPN's Dianna Russini was the first to report news of the deal. Follow along with the latest Patriots and NFL rumors all in one convenient place on "The Pulse". Martellus Bennett is having himself an eventful 30 th birthday. The free-agent tight end agreed to a new contract with the Packers on Friday, announcing his decision via Instagram. Earlier in the week, Bennett acknowledged on his social-media accounts that he would not be returning to New England after spending one season with the Patriots. The one-year marriage between Bennett and Bill Belichick's club would certainly qualify as a win-win for both sides. Bennett, who arrived to the Patriots via trade last offseason, was able to increase his value after a rocky 2015 in Chicago. He displayed his versatile skill set in New England's offense, being used at times as a forceful blocker in the running ...

Steelers Lose Out On Logan Ryan, But Still Have Options For A Veteran Cb

... seeing the news that although the Pittsburgh Steelers had shown interest in New England Patriots free agent cornerback Logan Ryan , Ryan signed a contract with the Tennessee Titans worth almost $10 million dollars a season. As we have taken a look at the team’s current Salary Cap space , you can clearly see that deal was too rich for Pittsburgh’s blood. Fans are likely disappointed in the outcome of these rumors, but it isn’t as if the Steelers were simply sitting on their hands watching player after player jettison to a new team. The Steelers are showing interest, and likely putting offers on the table, but you can’t blame free agents for taking ridiculous contracts set out in front of them when it is their turn for a pay day. So, what’s next for the Steelers? The team has shown interest in former Chargers cornerback Brandon Flowers , and have also now been linked to Arizona Cardinals cornerback Marcus Cooper. Steelers have been in contact with Cardinals DB Marcus Cooper (6-foot-2, 4 INTs in 2016). Jets reportedly interested. — Jeremy Fowler (@JFowler ESPN) March 10, 2017. ...

A Logan Ryan Breakdown
A Logan Ryan Breakdown

... | Alan Branch | Le Garrette Blount | Michael Floyd. Here’s a look at his free agent situation. What did he make in 2016? Ryan earned a base salary of $1.661 million in 2016, plus a $10,000 workout bonus. What’s his value on the open market? With NFL teams seemingly always in need of good cornerbacks – and at the very least, someone solid and reliable for one of the top-2 spots – Ryan is bound for a massive salary bump as a free agent. He may not be worth a No. 1 cornerback-caliber salary north of $10 million, like the Broncos’ Aqib Talib ($11 million) – but no reasonable observer would blame him if he took such an offer, should it present itself. Realistically, Ryan’s worth in a free-agent contract is closer to that of Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (5 years, $35 million) or the Titans’ Jason Mc Courty (6 years, $43 million), and even that would place him squarely in the top-20 highest-paid corners in the NFL. But after the Texans’ A. J. Bouye sets the market, Ryan’s real value will become clearer. What’s his value to the Patriots? In the Patriots’ ...

Logan Ryan, Duron Harmon To Let Patriots Match Contract Offers

... backs get a contract offer in free agency, they will see if New England will match that offer. They won’t get away without the Patriots’ approval. Looks like Logan Ryan and Duron Harmon will hit free agency then present their best offers to Pats to see if they'll be interested to match. — Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) March 2, 2017. Ryan had games where he struggled in the first half of the season, but he began to turn a corner as the year progressed. He spent much of the season working as the Patriots’ No. 2 and No. 3 cornerback — depending the styles of the opposing receivers. Cornerback Eric Rowe often took the No. 2 corner spot if the opposing receiver was taller and more physical. But Ryan’s Super Bowl performance typified the defensive back’s progress, as he finished tied for the team-high with six tackles. He was also solid in coverage while working against Julio Jones, Mohamed Sanu and Taylor ...

... seasons. He had a career-high eight TDs in 2014 when the Cowboys won the NFC East and a playoff game. 6:40 p.m. The Carolina Panthers have continued their busy day, signing unrestricted free agent wide receiver Russell Shepard to a three-year contract. Shepard essentially fills the role of Ted Ginn Jr., who left to join the New Orleans Saints. The 6-foot-1, 195 pound Shepard spent four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and posted career highs of 23 receptions, 341 yards receiving yards and two touchdowns last season. He also was the Buccaneers' special teams captain in 2015 and 2016, recording 31 career tackles, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Earlier in the day, the Panthers agreed to terms with defensive end Julius Peppers, signed free agent safety Mike Adams and traded defensive end Kony Ealy and a third-round draft pick to New England for the Patriots' second-round pick. The move allowed Carolina to move up eight spots in the draft. - Steve Reed reporting from Charlotte, North Carolina. 5:05 p.m. ...

Lions Connected To Cornerback Logan Ryan
Lions Connected To Cornerback Logan Ryan

... year — and three different sources mentioned the Lions, who need a cornerback and are run by GM Bob Quinn, a former longtime Patriots scout. We’ve already mentioned Ryan a few times here on this site. He is one of 12 free agents we mentioned that has a previous connection with general manager Bob Quinn. At the time, here’s what I wrote about Ryan. Ryan fits best in the slot, which was a huge liability for the Lions in 2016. Though Quandre Diggs showed promise in 2015, last year was a bit of a disaster for him. Ryan would make an excellent fit in Detroit if the Lions are willing to shell out some money for him. Spotrac lists his market value at $14.4 million per year , but that seems like a gross over-exaggeration. Expect to see him more around the $7-8 million range. Teams may have to split the price difference there in order to snag Ryan. According to the Globe report, Ryan could earn “potentially $10 million per year.”. What they’d be getting in Ryan is a player who has ...

... who is going to come to work every day. I am very blue-collar in that nature. I will do whatever it takes to put the team first. … I want to win football games. I am focused and I want to continue to win here. I want to earn (the trust of) these players and these coaches and take it from there.”. Ryan said he’s anxious to learn from veteran defensive coordinator Dick Le Beau. “I know he is a great coach,” Ryan said of Le Beau. “He has been doing it a long time, long before I have been playing the game. “So I am going to come in with two open ears and one closed mouth, and I am going to listen and learn.”. Titans general manager Jon Robinson got to know Ryan during his time with the Patriots. He liked him so much he convinced Ryan to join him in Tennessee. A starter for the Super Bowl champions in 2016 and a key member of their secondary the past few seasons, Ryan signed with the Titans ...

Logan Ryan Is The Patriots’ 2nd Most Important Free Agent

... you remember what those three did against against the Patriots? Those three did pretty much nothing in their postseason losses as Logan Ryan had blanket coverage all game. Combined, those 3 receivers had 15 catches for 156 yards and 0 TD against the Patriots. Not every catch came against Ryan in coverage, as the Patriots played a lot of zone defense against the Texans and Steelers since they were up 3 scores in the 4 th quarter in each game. The fact that none of those players scored touchdowns or were a big factor in their game is all I need to know. Ryan isn’t the best athlete at the CB position in terms of straight-line speed, but everything else is excellent. Ryan is a student of the game, spending hours studying film to find out tendencies, tells, and weaknesses of any player he’s likely covering. In addition, he’s very good at sticking with the receiver on change of direction routes, tackling, and playing the ball. Ryan puts all the work in to make himself the best player he can be. Some weeks, Ryan may be the CB 2, others he might be the CB 1. The Patriots scheme doesn’t ...
