Fred Palmer is the grant coordinator for SPD and said the Office of The Governor - Criminal Justice Division has awarded a $43,000 grant for the purchase of the records management system. "This new RMS will be replacing our current system that has aged out and no longer feasible to maintain. This grant saves tax dollars and aids the officers in completing their reports and paperwork faster, allowing them to return to protecting the citizens in a timely manner,” Palmer said. SPD Police Chief Chris Noble said the previous records management system was antiquated. "We want to get information back out quickly," Noble said. "The biggest difference between the old and new system is that the new system is more user-friendly and [easier] date retrieval.".
