Sleepless Bears Prowl Vancouver Island's Bear Mountain For Snacks
... area of Langford, B. C. But recently a sow and her cub have been prowling the neighbourhood for human food in poorly secured garbage containers, when they should be hibernating. Two more bears are doing the same thing in nearby Sooke. Orphaned bear cubs that sparked controversy released to wild. "They're supposed to be in the den and the vast majority of bears are in the den from November to May, so this is unusual behaviour for them," B. C. conservation service officer Peter Pauwels told On the Island host Gregor Craigie. Pauwels said the ursine insomnia is a concern because it disrupts the animals' natural cycle. "There are not a lot of natural sources of food for them to eat right now," he said. "So if they're up and about accessing human food then that's a behaviour they're going to continue indefinitely.". Pauwels said the main reason for the bear activity is probably the availability of garbage, not a lack of food leading up to hibernation season. B. C. ...

Sleepless Nights' Complaint Over West Calder Bridge Replacement
... BBC Scotland that the noise had been getting gradually worse since last summer. He said: "I thought it was the end of the world on Friday night, the noise and vibrations were so bad. We couldn't get any sleep all night and it carried on all the next day too. "What good is it to put a note through the door saying there is going to be high levels of noise? Are we to pay for a hotel now until April. "It is outrageous and I'm very angry about this. "Surely it would be better to carry out the work during the day and inconvenience rail services than to cause all the locals in the area months and months of sleepless nights?". Network Rail said it had notified 1,200 properties that they would be affected by the work and Mr Mc Innes' complaint was the only one it had received. A spokesman said: "The work we have been carrying out at West Calder is vital to replace a life-expired road bridge over the railway. "We try to minimise the disruption our works cause to nearby ...
Michelle Monaghan Recalls Non-'sleepless' Times In Chicago
... was even a possibility. But looking back, I think I figured out journalism was a possible way for me to perform — likely as a television reporter or something like that. “Interestingly, I still do the old journalism drill of asking the five ‘W’s’ of ‘who, what, where, when and why,’ plus I add ‘how’ when I consider a role and prepare for it. … So it’s nice for my parents that all that money they spent on my college tuition in Chicago didn’t go to waste!”. During our interview alongside her “Sleepless” co-star Jamie Foxx, Monaghan’s reminiscences led the Oscar winner to recall his own Chicago experiences early in his career. “312, at 8 th and Wabash,” said Foxx, making note of a comedy club — an outpost of Michael Williams’ Los Angeles Comedy Act Theater — where he once did stand-up. “The comedy scene in Chicago was incredible. Jamie Foxx In ‘sleepless
... almost nothing about his situation is very enjoyable. “Sleepless” is a propulsive thin exercise, “energetic” but tedious, the kind of January movie that Jamie Foxx should have permanently graduated from. Foxx is too good an actor — taut and committed — to phone in his performance, yet that hardly matters, since the whole movie is phoned in. It’s far from incompetent, but it’s a who-cares? thriller. And that’s likely to be reflected in an underwhelming box-office performance. The movie is also not very plausible, in a way that cuts down on its entertainment value; watching “Sleepless,” you have to keep dimming your perceptions downward. At one point Vincent poses as a hotel worker, in blue work duds and cap, and he’s got his head down in an elevator, so that Bryant the IA investigator won’t spot him — and then, just like that, he glances up, and she spots him, and the only reason he did it is that the director, Baran bo Odar, thought it made for a cool shot. In a hotel suite, Vincent tries to convince Bryant that he’s been working undercover (not for vice but for Internal Affairs), and she refuses to believe him. In fact, he’s been honing his ...
Samsung's Scion Had A Sleepless Night In 22 Straight Hours Of Questioning
... kilometers (miles) from the special prosecutors' office, local media said. A Samsung spokeswoman did not have immediate comment. One of the two prosecutors grilling Lee was Han Dong-hoon, the prosecutors' office said. Han has been nicknamed the "Chaebol Sniper" by local media for his record in previous high-profile corporate investigations, including a 2003 case involving the SK Group and another in 2006 focused on Hyundai Motor (hymtf). After a box meal for lunch, Lee ate jajangmyeon, a Chinese black-bean-paste noodle popular as a cheap meal, for dinner, according to the special prosecutor's team. Local media reports said Lee was questioned in a room known as the "digital recording interrogation room" in the office that was set up specially to investigate the presidential corruption scandal. The special prosecution official could not confirm to Reuters in which room Lee was questioned. The digital recording interrogation room, shown previously to reporters, has one table and about six chairs and is equipped with a closed-circuit television camera as well as a desktop computer and ...
Jamie Foxx And Michelle Monaghan Share Some Sharp Words
... his son. Jamie Foxx doesn’t like that at all. You can see how all that plays out in the first Sleepless trailer that debuted last fall, but now a clip from the movie has debuted, showing us the tense, cheeky relationship that Jamie Foxx has with Michelle Monaghan, who works in internal affairs and has no idea that Foxx is just pretending to be a corrupt cop as part of his job, and isn’t actually as bad as some of his colleagues. Watch the Sleepless clip below. The banter here isn’t quite as clever as it could be, but the tension between Foxx and Monaghan is palpable. I’m curious as to what the situation Foxx is referring to when he points out the scratch on Monaghan’s face. Anyway, clearly these two have crossed paths before, but surely they’ll end up helping each other out in the end. Sleepless is being framed similar to Taken, with Foxx doing everything in his power to get his son back from some sketchy people. But they’ve taken out much of the intrigue by revealing that Foxx is an undercover cop who is only pretending to be corrupt. Since this is an American remake of the French film Nuit Blanche ...
Live By Night,' 'sleepless' And More
... killed three and hurt more than 250. The incident remains a vivid memory because it happened so recently and everything unfolded on TV. That created major problems for the filmmakers. Director Peter Berg, who wrote the screenplay with Matt Cook and Joshua Zeturner, has meticulously re-created everything from the morning of the attack to the moments after the investigation wrapped. It's a very detailed telling of the story. But because the events were covered so thoroughly in the news media, this retelling offers nothing new. Yet, there was plenty new that could have been explored. Mark Wahlberg's character, Tommy Saunders, is a cop who has ruffled the feathers of his bosses. His having to work at the finish line of the marathon is a punishment for his insubordinate attitude. Instead of following him as he takes command at the blast zone and helps with the investigation, it would have been more interesting to see what brought him to this moment in time. The same goes for J. K. Simmons' role of Sgt. Jeffrey Pugliese, who was in command of the Watertown ...
