John Mayer Reveals Personal Stories Behind Four 'wave 2' Songs
... of 2014, the Beach Boys were doing a performance in an adjacent room, and Mayer bumped into Jardine in the hallway. "He said, 'If you have anything I can sing on…'," Mayer says, "And I was like, 'Well, I do have this one song…'" Jardine and his son Matt made time that same day to record harmonies on the track. "How many artists do a Beach Boys thing and then have an actual Beach Boy come and sing the thing?" Mayer says. "That's the joy of being in a musical community.". "Roll It on Home". "We have this bar in Livingston, Montana called The Murray Bar, and that's the room I've always pictured this playing in," says Mayer, of the laid-back country tune – a song about the moment you realize you've been at the bar so long that "tonight's already yesterday." Says Mayer: "It's like the singer in the ...
Katherine Heigl's Husband Is Convinced She Dated John Mayer
... Mayer "grew up in neighboring towns" on the East Coast; Heigl was raised in New Canaan, Ct., while Mayer lived in Fairfield, Ct. Heigl said, "We knew some of the same people and had some friends in common.". They Dated? Surprising Star Couples. Terence Patrick/CBS. Years later, after they'd both found fame, "We met up at one of his concerts. Just friends! Just friends!" the actress said. "Josh and I were probably dating about a month, and it was unclear where the relationship was going; I like clarity. I didn't know if he was as serious about me as I was about him. I had run into John, who was in town making a record or something. We were just hanging out, having drinks, having dinners—as friends! Totally just friends! He wasn't interested in me that way. He would talk to me about other hot girls and stuff; it was friends.". By this point, James Corden began to question if she was telling the truth. "It's getting to the point now you're saying 'friends' so much I'm starting to think you slept with him," he joked. Heigl laughed and admitted he's not the only one: "Josh to this day doesn't quite believe me.". "Anyway," she added, "that's a whole 'nother argument for another ...
Love On The Weekend Is A Cop Out For The Talented John Mayer
... lack of creativity. The song is good enough that I probably would not turn it off on the radio if it came on while I was driving. However, I am a big fan of the other work Mayer has done, and it is unfortunate that he went for the easy formula to produce a simple pop song that would sell quickly. Since Mayer has not put out a lot of music recently, he most likely knew that whatever he released would be at least mildly popular, but his more musically inclined fans will likely not appreciate this tune. Maybe when he performs it live (or records it acoustically in studio like “Something Like Olivia”), he will add in some time for soloing or will come up with an alternate version of the song. But until Mayer releases a new full album, it seems we are stuck with a song that will fade quickly, as all pop songs do. Now it shouldn’t be expected that a talented artist should produce ground-shattering music every time he or she releases something. That kind of pressure is what eventually leads to pop music as formulas for success are discovered and abused until every person on the planet hates them ...
John Mayer, Donald Trump And A Very Elusive Piece Of Japanese Workwear
... story would’ve ended here. I would’ve clicked on the link for the very affordable Urban Outfitters denim noragi shirt at the bottom of the GQ article. I would’ve purchased it and had it delivered to Colombia, because I’m in Colombia. I would’ve received it, a few weeks later, and worn it on a chilly night out over a t-shirt, to the admiring glances of friends and strangers alike. I would’ve been, if only marginally, if only for a moment, John Mayer-esque. But that didn’t happen. Said noragi shirt was sold out. And it has been ever since. Therefore, the quest continued. *The first involved a dressing room, a flirty dressing room attendant, a mirror and a few unisex shirts that were not, in fact, unisex. Chapter 3: A Brief Yet Significant Internal Dilemma Over Whether or Not a Noragi Shirt Might Look a Little Bit Too Much Like My Old Karate Gi. This is a picture of someone wearing a gi. I used to wear one during karate lessons, when I was a kid ...
